B.K. Borison

In B.K. Borison's And Now, Back to You, a radio meteorologist who lives by his schedule and a TV forecaster who improvises get stuck covering a historic snowstorm together. It's an opposites-attract romantic comedy with quick banter, a forced-proximity work trip, and a soft heart, though the middle sags.

The Review

Our take

Charming, with one stretch where the charm idles. Borison's romantic comedy sets two Baltimore weather forecasters against each other, and the fun starts with how thoroughly they've already failed to get along. Jackson Clark does radio, where schedules and routine keep him steady. Delilah Stewart works in television and improvises for a living. Their stations share a parking lot, their history is a string of small disasters, and her parking hasn't helped. Then a historic snowstorm bears down on the city, and the two of them get sent out to cover it together.

What keeps the story moving is a bargain. Delilah wants respect as a real journalist, and Jackson can help her earn it. Jackson has forgotten how to loosen up, and she can help with that. It's a smart engine, because each of them wants something that has nothing to do with the other person, at least at first. The banter does the heavy lifting early, and the slide from rivals to friends feels believable instead of rushed. Yes, there's a one-bed mishap on the trip. Borison plays the trope with affection and gets real mileage out of it. Jackson is the anxious, rule-loving one, and he's also the one who falls first, which is a pleasure to watch: a man who plans everything, undone by a woman who plans nothing. The stretches where they forecast together on air are some of the funniest in the book.

There's more going on than flirting. Jackson has his younger sisters to look after, and Delilah steps up for them. Delilah has a boss who treats her unfairly, and she has to find the nerve to push back. Those threads give the romance some weight, and the friendships and family around the leads carry the same warmth as First-Time Caller, the first Heartstrings novel. The book also asks both leads to let someone look after them, which is harder for these two than falling in love.

Why you should read

Opposites-attract romances with quick banter
Grumpy and sunshine pairings
Forced proximity and one-bed setups
Workplace rivals who become friends first
Fans of First-Time Caller

What to expect

Warm, funny tone with real emotional beats
Friends-first progression from rivals
A middle stretch that slows down
Family and workplace subplots beside the romance

The pacing is where I'd quibble. At 457 pages, the middle drags, and a few readers wanted a slower burn, with more time for the attraction to build before it turns romantic. That's a fair complaint, and the pull toward the end partly depends on how much patience you have left. But the payoff does arrive, and it lands because Borison has made you care whether Jackson and Delilah get to be taken care of. Underneath the bickering is a gentle story about two people who needed exactly that.
