Hatchet
by Gary Paulsen
Gary Paulsen's Hatchet is a Newbery Honor survival novel about thirteen-year-old Brian Robeson, the lone survivor of a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness with only a hatchet and his wits. It is fast, practical, and moving, and it works for middle-grade readers and adults alike.
