Scythe
by Neal Shusterman
Neal Shusterman builds a future that has beaten death, then asks who does the killing that keeps the planet from filling up. Two unwilling teenagers get apprenticed to a professional executioner and have to learn the job. Smart, cold-blooded YA dystopia with a moral argument running through every chapter.
