David Aaron Baker plays Charlie level and loyal, so the shift happens in you rather than in the narration, which is exactly how Theroux built it.
Allie is the other performance. He talks constantly, a brilliant paranoid inventor lecturing his family across New England and then across Honduras, and Baker gives him enough charisma that you understand why anyone followed him into the jungle.
