Jeff Woodman's reading of Christopher Boone is the performance this book needed: precise, literal, entirely without the condescension that a narrator could so easily bring to a fifteen-year-old telling his own story. The flat delivery is the character rather than a limitation, and the emotion arrives through what Christopher reports without understanding.
Six hours makes it one of the shortest full novels in the section, easily a single afternoon. The chapter numbering, the diagrams, the digressions into maths — Woodman handles the book's oddities without stumbling or over-explaining them.
One Audible credit gets the whole investigation. It is a good example of a first-person novel that gains rather than loses in the move to audio.
