Why the audiobook wins
Never Lie is built out of cassette tapes, which makes the audiobook the only format that gives you the story in its own medium. Dr. Adrienne Hale's patient sessions were recorded, and Tricia finds them one at a time while the snow closes the manor in. Reading a transcript is one experience. Leslie Howard handles both timelines, and the switch between the trapped newlywed in the present and the doctor on the tapes is where the tension sits.
